How ETFE brings daylight (and wellbeing) into big buildings

A single-layer ETFE cushion transmits up to around 95% of visible light, and even a multi-layer insulating build-up stays high. Glass, once you account for coatings, framing and cleaning, typically delivers far less at roof level.

That extra daylight isn't just a nice-to-have. In workplaces, retail and healthcare it is associated with better mood, productivity and dwell time — and it cuts artificial lighting loads through the working day.

Where glare is a concern, we specify fritted or printed foils. A dot pattern on the outer layer knocks back solar gain while keeping the space bright and diffuse. It's a level of tuning glass coatings can't easily match.
