Who I work with

Architects, contractors, owners.

Three very different questions about the same material. Here's what involving Lyndon looks like for each of them — and when in the programme it pays to do it.

Architects

Best involved at RIBA Stage 1–2

Find out what the material will actually let you draw, before the grid is fixed.

  • Feasibility on form, span and daylight for a concept sketch
  • Realistic build-up options: layers, frit patterns, U-values, light transmission
  • Budget rates good enough to put in a client report
  • Honest advice on where ETFE is the wrong answer — usually acoustics
  • Detailing and interface support with your structural engineer

Main contractors

Tender stage onwards

A specialist package that arrives coordinated, priced properly and installs fast.

  • Firm pricing and programme for the ETFE package at tender
  • Steel and membrane as one coordinated package through GJ Steel
  • Buildability and sequencing input, including work over live operations
  • Lightweight panels: less craneage, shorter possessions, fewer access constraints
  • One point of contact from award to handover — no account layers

Owners & developers

Any stage, including existing buildings

A roof or enclosure that adds usable, lettable, daylit space without rebuilding what's underneath.

  • Cover courtyards, light wells and rooftops on structures that can't carry glass
  • Whole-life cost: self-cleaning surface, 75-year-plus foil life, components replaced without craneage
  • Lower embodied carbon, and evidence for BREEAM and LEED submissions
  • Landmark geometry that makes a scheme recognisable
  • Straight answers on cost and risk before you commit

How it works

Glyndon is a personal practice. Whoever you are in the chain, you deal with Lyndon Clayton — 25 years in construction and over 15 as Managing Director of Vector Foiltec, the company that invented the technology.

The first conversation costs nothing and usually saves money. An area, a sketch section and what the space is for is enough to come back with a view on feasibility and a budget rate.
