The challenge
An outdoor food and market space needed to work in British weather without becoming an enclosed, dim shed — and the structure had to be striking enough to draw people to it.
The ETFE solution
A tubular ETFE and steel canopy forms a bright, curved cover over the walkway and dining area. The foil's translucency keeps the space feeling outdoors even under cover, and the curved geometry is achieved in a way rigid glazing would make slow and expensive.
The result
A year-round outdoor room: sheltered, daylit and visibly different from every other market canopy on the peninsula.
