Why ETFE
Enclosure weight low enough for an existing roof structure

The challenge

Adding usable amenity space to an existing City roof means working with whatever spare load capacity the building has left — usually very little — while creating something tenants actually want to use.

The ETFE solution

An ETFE-clad walkway and pod structure sits on the roof. As cladding rather than a roof, ETFE gives a weather-tight, translucent enclosure at a tiny fraction of the weight of a glazed equivalent, so the existing frame could take it.

The result

A sheltered, light-filled rooftop route and space, added to a working building without strengthening works on the scale glass would have required.
